Vote as a resident

If you are a City resident, these elections are your chance to have your say about who represents your interests in the Square Mile - and ensure you have a voice in shaping our future.

Vote as a resident

The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the Square Mile. It looks after a wide range of local services from planning and housing, to roads and the police. The City elections are your way to ensure your voice is heard and that your priorities help shape the City’s future.

The next all-out elections to the Common Council will be in March 2025, but by-elections and elections for Alderman can be held at any time. All City residents over the age of 18, who are UK, EU or Commonwealth citizens can vote, as long as they’re registered on the Ward List by 16th December. This is different to the electoral register used for general elections and must be completed every year - you don’t stay on it automatically. Voter registration is open from 1st September to 16th December and can be done online. You should also receive a letter in the post with a link and individual password. If you don’t have this information, please get in touch.
